The short version
Cal AI is one of the most-downloaded AI calorie apps — reported at over 15 million downloads before it was acquired by MyFitnessPal in early 2026 — and its photo-to-calories flow is genuinely fast and polished. It is built for calorie and macro counting, full stop. NutriAI uses the same photo-first scanning idea but points it at a different problem: each meal gets an inflammation-aware A+ to F grade, you log quick symptom check-ins, and the app surfaces possible patterns between what you ate and how you felt. NutriAI does not track micronutrients, and its estimates — like any AI photo analysis — sometimes need a correction before you save.
Choose Cal AI if…
- Your goal is calorie and macro counting, and you want the most polished photo-scanning experience built for exactly that.
- You want an app with a huge, established user base and the track record that comes with it — NutriAI 2.0 is new and has far fewer reviews.
- You don't need symptom tracking. If food-symptom connections aren't your question, Cal AI's focus is a feature, not a gap.

- No wearable integration yet. There is no Apple Health, Google Fit, or fitness-tracker sync today.
